Elder Dr. John C. Evans, Jr., a native of Hallsboro, North Carolina, the son of the late John C. Evans, Sr., and Sarah Elizabeth Evans, is the pastor of Cathedral A.M.E. Zion Church, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Dr. Evans is married to Marion Evans and is the proud father of son, John C. Evans, III, and daughter, Jessica Dorene Evans. His family also includes four brothers: Gus Evans, Carl Evans, Cornelius Evans, and Mark Evans and two sisters, Bonita Evans Baldwin and Susan Powell.

Dr. Evans's education includes: Elizabeth City State University- Bachelor of Science Degree; Hood Theological Seminary - Master of Divinity Degree; Southwestern Christian Theological Seminary - Doctor of Ministry. He has additional studies at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, MS and Memphis Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN. He was recently awarded a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Livingstone College.

In January 2006, Dr. Evans was named the new Presiding Elder of the Jackson-Sharon District by Bishop Louis Hunter. His leadership not only encompasses his church and A.M.E. Zion Connection but the community as well. He is actively involved with The 100 Concerned Clergy of Jackson and serves on several advisory board committees.

He has blessed the family of Cathedral since 1986. His television and radio ministry has reached and blessed many through salvation, healing and deliverance.
